A bacterial infection caused by Clostridium tetani, often from contaminated wounds, leading to muscle stiffness and spasms (lockjaw). WHO notes that tetanus is preventable with the DTaP vaccine, treated with antitoxin and antibiotics, and rare in vaccinated populations.
